E-mail Setup
*Primary E-mail Address
@amicro.net
We recommend that this should be the
name of your site (called a "sitename") rather than an individual.
The sitename is whatever name you wish to call your computer or site but
it must be unique and not have been used by any other account. When your
account is running, this is the email address that we will use to contact
you by default. The primary email address you choose should only contain
letters, numbers, and hyphens (no spaces or other characters) for example
bloggs@amicro.net . Once your account is setup you could add extra
email addresses such as names of individuals.
However you can only have up five email addresses ending in @amicro.net
and they must not have been used by another account. There can only be
one bloggs@amicro.net . This is very restrictive.
For this reason we recommend the use of a "hostname" in email
addresses. You can setup a hostname once your account has been setup.
We recommend that this hostname is the same as the sitename you used when
setting up the primary email address. It will allow you to have unlimited
email addresses that look like anyname@hostname.amicro.net . You
can have as many of these as you like and it is very flexible. Examples
are sales@hostname.amicro.net , accounts@hostname.amicro.net .
For example suppose you set up bloggs@amicro.net here. You can
later add the hostname bloggs and create addresses such as fred@bloggs.amicro.net
and jane@bloggs.amicro.net . Note: bloggs@amicro.net is available
immediately your account is setup because amicro.net already exists and
is known on the Internet. Setting up a hostname means there is a delay
of about 30-minutes (can be shorter or longer!) before the hostname.amicro.net
is recognised by the Internet.

Please Note: Passwords must be made
up of a mix of characters a to z, A to Z and numbers 1 to 9 only. Spaces
are not allowed. Passwords can be between 4 and 8 characters long. For
good security, we recommend you use 8 characters made up of a mix of upper
and lower case letters and numbers. Passwords can be difficult to remember
so it is a good idea to remember a phrase and then use the first letters
of each word as your password. For example "Once upon a time there
lived a man" would become 1uaTtlaM. Do not use your telephone number,
house name, date of birth, car registration number or any name from a
dictionary. They are very, very easy to crack. We will be writing some
guidelines to help you choose passwords very soon .
